Shahn Marc Louis is the founder of Anansi Strategic Intelligence, where he advises American businesses on Indo-Pacific supply chain and geopolitical risks. He previously spent nearly a decade advising the State Department, Department of Defense, and the U.S. Intelligence Community on the Indo-Pacific.
His analysis relies on professional-level Mandarin proficiency and direct engagement with primary-source Chinese-language materials. This capability allows him to bridge the gap between what Chinese strategists actually say and what is filtered through translation.
Louis holds an M.A. in International Affairs from the George Washington University Elliott School and a B.A. from Gettysburg College. He is a 2024 American Mandarin Society AACLF Fellow and a member of the National Committee on U.S.–China Relations.
He writes to ground the public debate on the Indo-Pacific in primary evidence, insisting on analytical standards often missing in public commentary. His work has been published in The Boston Globe, World Politics Review, American Purpose, Persuasion, and the Lowy Institute's The Interpreter.
